Hello reddit, I (M 21) have a friend Fred and recently we both bought a game that we had been looking forward too when it was announced. Fred, me and another friend, Gabe, all were playing thisgame and trying to beat it. I am usually a busy person with inconsistent work schedules and also having to manage time with my irl friends and my partner. This has lead to them beating majority of the game without me and causing me to play catch-up. This was not an issue for me because I truly didn't care how they spent their time. I was just glad they were enjoying the game. Cut to the final boss and we are all caught up. Fred wants to run the final boss without Gabe and I tell him that we should wait for Gabe because it would be pretty cool to finish the boss together, all three of us. Fred gets upset that I won't play while the iron is hot and gets off for the night (I know he was upset because he texted Gabe about it). I also texted Gabe that he should wait for me because it would be cool to beat the boss as a group together. Cut to the next day where I was predictably, busy and I come back home only to discover that they had already beaten the boss together, without me. No biggie, I honestly did not care that much. Now here's where the full problem starts. Recently, the bosses have gotten challenge modes that are only available for a short time until they rotate out. They had been beating these bosses without me up until one of the bosses came out and I decided that I wanted to beat it with Gabe because we were both available. We beat the boss and Fred finds out and gets upset that I SPECIFICALLY wasn't playing the game with him. Gabe calls Fred out and things continue as normal and I even run the same boss with Fred so we can beat it.Then recently, another boss came out that Fred and Gabe beat without me once more. I decided that it would be a fun challenge for myself, to try to beat that boss by myself considering the fact that the other two already defeated the boss. Cut to Fred making it a big issue that I'm playing the game without him and telling Gabe and another friend that he's upset that I'm playing the game by myself. I literally told Fred that I wanted to beat this one boss solo and then we could beat the next boss together. I simply just wanted this one challenge run. Now keep in mind, every other boss in that game that I have beaten, I have done it at least once with Fred. The only Boss I didn't defeat with him was the one I did by myself. Everyone I tell this situation too says that Fred is being an asshole with the only mention of me being an asshole is me playing the game by myself in the same call as Fred and not allowing him to join me. But even then they said that it was such a non issue and the way Fred is talking about it is much more dramatic than it should be. Am I the Asshole for playing the game by myself even though a massive majority of the time I'm playing it with Fred?
