So for some context, Im 20M want to travel to another state to visit my long distance 21F girlfriend.Back at the beginning of this year my long distance girlfriend paid to come stay with me for a week. While she was here I showed her around and she got to meet my family. Now she wants me to travel to her state for Thanksgiving week so she can show me around and meet her family. So here's the issue, my mother, who I still live with, doesn't feel comfortable with me leaving state. I've tried to have a conversation with her explaining that its unfair to my girlfriend that I cant go visit her where she lives and that I'm becoming an adult and want to start making my own decisions. Anytime I bring up the subject, it instantly gets shut down with her reason being that I'm a black man. Some important information to note without saying where I live is that the state I live in has similar crime rates and hate crime statistics as hers does. The area she lives in is relatively small and also safe for the state shes in. I also don't believe it could be age factor with my mother because she also wont let my older bother 30M to travel alone to other states as well. So AITA if I travel to another state this November without my mother knowing?
